THE ACTIVITIES OF EXPLOS-NATURE CHALLENGE ALSO THE ADULTS!

YOU WILL NEVER LOOK ATHE ST.LAWRENCE IN THE SAME WAY AGAIN

The St. Lawrence constitutes one of the most beautiful rivers. It is the link between the fresh water of the Great Lakes and the salt water of the Atlantic Ocean . Throughout its course, the St. Lawrence changes color and flavour. Populated by fauna and flora living in its fresh water, the population transforms itself and resembles little by little the organisms found in an ocean. In the region of the Côte-Nord, the characteristics of the estuary make a rich medium where the most varied forms of life meet and continue to surprise us. Thus, each year, many species of birds and marine mammals come in the area to feed on zooplankton, invertebrates and fish which are found there in abundance. For its part, the Saguenay fjord, a water course of fresh water with majestic banks, is one of the rare fjords to flow into an estuary. The junction between the fjord and estuary is a very dynamic zone giving to the estuary a special character. Officially created in 1998 and managed in collaboration by the governments of Canada and Québec, the Saguenay St. Lawrence Marine Park has as a main objective to protect and cherish the ecosystems. The Saguenay St. Lawrence Marine Park is comprised entirely of water with a surface of 1.138 km² and falls under the world network of the marine surfaces of conservation. It covers almost the entire Saguenay fjord and a portion of the estuary between Saint-Fulgence and Escoumins. In collaboration with several partners of the region, including Explos-Nature, the park carries out its objectives of education and research. On the sites of Cap-de-Bon-Désir and the Marine Environment Discovery Centre, you will find the team of biologists, naturalists and divers of Explos-Nature who will embark you in the fascinating world of the St. Lawrence.
